“Could you run ahead and give this to Cee? I feel a bit of a fool handing it to her myself.”

This is one of my last-ditch attempts to get to NYU, because after speaking with my parents in what is probably the closest we will get to a completely open conversation about college and finance, loans will not work.
I’ve never done anything like this! But Mama and I sent Ellen the dream that we want her to make come true, and now I need your help to pester the fabulous Ellen so that she doesn’t forget about me!
So tweet @TheEllenShow and tell her to help @AshleyGoverman get to NYU, her dream school! I would appreciate it so much :) Who knows, it might be totally useless…but you might also help make my dream come true! Thank you!
any of my followers who have a twitter should help out my friend ashley get to NYU, mostly because she’s the best person i know.
i could go on about how much ashley deserves this, how i’ve seen her work incredibly hard all throughout high school, and how she got into this amazing program but is hindered from going simply because of money, but i won’t. instead, i’ll just tell you this.
ashley shines. i mean that completely seriously, this girl actually glows. i’m not going to lie to you- ashley has showed up half asleep to school in yoga pants and a beat up pair of fake uggs with her hair in a ponytail. sometimes i just want to tell her to go back home and get some more sleep because you can just see how tired she is. but she’s still one of, if not the most, beautiful people i know. somehow ashley’s kindness and pureness actually radiates from her- sounds cheesy, but it’s true. i guess you wouldn’t know what i’m talking about unless you actually saw it, but i swear, it’s magic.
i guess the only way i can attempt to explain it is through this little story. on our high school’s french exchange program last summer, ashley bought a pair of horrendously tacky heart shaped sunglasses in paris. i visibly cringed when she skipped on out in them. i mean, come on, we were in paris, fashion capital of the world, and ashley’s sporting a pair of blue, plastic, heart-shaped sunglasses and looking oh so american. i was probably being dramatic, but though ten dollar sunglasses mortified me. but don’t worry, when we arrived at our exchange families home and school, she managed to charm an entire school of french students with them. ashley was the girl with the heart shaped glasses, the one everyone stared at, not because she was american but because she was amazing, and she had the strongest spirit probably anyone had ever seen. the girl i stayed with, romane, still talks about ashley and her glasses. if i remember correctly, she said her smile warms the heart.
if there is one place ashley goverman belongs, it’s the stage. she lights it up like no one else i know. she’s worked too hard and she’s far too talented to be denied this experience and what i truly believe is her dream. she deserves this, and i wouldn’t be writing this all out at midnight if i didn’t think so. it’s just a tweet, and maybe it won’t work, but if this could in anyway give the most talented, beautiful, and genuine person i know the goal she’s been working for since i’ve known her, i’ll beg you to do it.
if there’s a way i want to thank ashley for doing so much for me and so many others, it’s by trying to give her this. like i said, she shines, and she deserves every bit of what she’s worked for.
Rachel, this is probably the most wonderful thing anyone has ever said about me. Thank you so much, I’m so honored that you think so highly of me and that you really believe in me! I’m sort of flabbergasted to be honest and nothing eloquent is happening at all but oh my gosh thank you for supporting me so much!!!!!

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.
